It's My Grand Dog

He is in Memphis. He is the newest addition to our family. His name is Nickel. How cool is that? You know....Penny....Nickel.
Isn't he just adorable. Makes me want to hop in the car and go see him. Am I a grandma or what?

Can you say spoiled? Does his mother know where his father lets him sleep when she is not at home?

The Wrapper

Of course, from Cheryl's book Knitted Jackets. The Encore Colorspun yarn is doing some cool things. It should be interesting to see what it looks like when finished.

I hope I like the striping. This jacket is all knit in rib so it is a great project for some mindless knitting.

Cusco

I cannot believe how quick the Brown Sheep yarn came in. I ordered it a week ago Saturday, and it was in on Thursday. Karen helped me pick it out. I really do like the yarn. I hope I like the jacket when it is done.

The original yarn was a bulky, but somehow I missed that and had Knit 4 Tog order the worsted. Keep tuned.

It's A First

I have a hand knit sweater that I did not knit myself. Fellow Radical Knitter, Karen knitted it. Rather than tear it apart, we made a deal for it. I love it. It is soooo warm. And I need warmth.
Bloomsbury from Cheryl Oberle's Knitted Jackets was on the list, but it would have been awhile before I would have completed it. I love love love this one! It's going to Iowa with me next week.

When Not Knitting

I'm probably working. This is the new office that I have made pretty much my space. It's nice and cozy.

I thought it would be fun to show the world that I believe in surrounding myself with fun stuff when I work. The Dean commented on it yesterday when she was in my office. Wondering if I had added to the collection lately. My response, no, and I don't buy them for myself. All of these wonderful things were gifts from co-workers over the course of my almost 15 years. And yes, I have more at home from other friends and family.

Can you figure out why the little kids love to come to my space?

When There Is Silence

It is a pretty sure bet that if I am not blogging, something else has me busy. Lately, it has been work....and other times it is knitting. Generally, when it is knitting, it is one of those things that I am flittin from project to project and can't quite land on something.

That has been a little of the case for me, but I'll blog about that later this week. The other thing I have been knitting on is the Lace Tweed Jacket from Debbie Bliss. It was fun up until the decreasing on the back.
I can't tell you how many times I ripped this sweater out. To maintain the look of the pattern, it was impossible to just knit the ends, and so quite a lot of time was spent on working the pattern into the decreases and maintaining the stitch count.

Finally, the back is done. And now onto the Fronts. I'm thinking this will be a next fall/winter sweater cause it is going to be awhile until I feel like knitting on it again. Well, at least until I head out to Knit 4 Tog and see how much Christane has done on hers, then I'll be back on it.

Happy Valentines Day To Me!

Don't need flowers, don't need candy! Ordered my new laptop this morning. I should have it sometime next week! Don't you love the color? If they would have Caribe Blue, I would have chosen it.

I am so excited!!!!

Debbie Bliss Errata

I don't really think about it much when I am knitting, but last weekend I stumbled across Errata for the 1st Debbie Bliss magazine. Which really got me to thinking, that I should search out on the internet more often for Errata for something prior to knitting something.

Just makes sense doesn't it?

How to for those who aren't sure. I googled Debbie Bliss Magazine Errata. Which brought me to her web page that had pattern revisions for all of her publications. Chose magazine and there it was. I printed it off, stapled it to the inside of the magazine and there it is for all time.

Swatchin

I've had this Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino for sometime. It was going to be a baby ensemble but as sometimes happens, I decided against it. So, it has just been sitting there in the Yarn Room waiting. I think it might turn into this wrap from the new Debbie Bliss magazine.

I pulled it out on Sunday to do a little swatch and see if I would have enough of it to make it. It has possibilities.

I didn't swatch this yet, but it is on my mind for a Spring coat. Again, I've had the Galway for sometime, slated for another sweater, but when I saw this in

I really have been quite serious about it. It just screams make me! But with the temps yesterday and today (high 50s) if it is going to be I'd better get swatchin.

Rachel's Jacket has a button. Funny, how a couple of weeks ago I took this sweater several places to find just the right button. I even had this one on it. So, after all that searching, I bought one on Saturday and said to myself the whole time, I don't care, this button is going on the jacket.

Now, out of the light of the day and into the dark of early morning. I like it, I really like it! It stays.

And also in the dark of early morning, Three Sisters is finished. Not as crazy about the button treatment, so it may come off after the very first wearing and be sans button. But, I'll give it a try. It also needs a little blocking and I will do that later this week. But for now, I'm done with the knitting.

Yes, I did a little swatching on Sunday, but I'll save that for another post. It's time for bed. Next week is a busy one at work!

This Is A Knit Day

Well, and a laundry day too. Yesterday was a reading day. I just felt like doing a little light reading yesterday after going out to Knit 4 Together.

I got my new Debbie Bliss magazine AND got to see some of the new color cards and feel Debbie Bliss Prism. It feels so good. I like the new magazine alot. There are a couple of things that I would like to do for Spring out of it.But, while I was looking at the new magazine, I also took out the old magazine and found still a couple of things that I want to do from it. Some could be done for early Spring wearing. I just had a thought. Somewhere in the yarn room is some blue baby Debbie Bliss. I think I might have enough for something from the new book.

I'm on a mission now. Lets see what it is and it can become. Stay tuned! I'm off to the yarn room.

Three Sisters Update

FINALLY, I am at the front bands. Now, it is 28 rows of garter on 200+ stitches. A little t.v. time tonight and hopefully it will be done. Oh, the feeling of almost being done! And then, what will I concentrate on next?

The new Debbie Bliss magazine is on my list for picking up today. Can't wait to see what it is in it. It looks so nice and springy. Even though it is going to be 50+ here today, and the calendar does say it is still early February, it is almost time to start thinking about Spring/Summer knitting IF one wants to be ready when the calendar says it is Spring!

Did I mention the sun is shining too? Don't know how long that will last today, but I am going to enjoy it!

Now We Wait

We signed up for 2.75 yesterday. Now, we sit and wish the month of February away and a little of March and wait to see if we got in. Talk about wishing your life away.

Once we find out if we are in, then we get all giddy and of course you blog readers will have to deal with it all cause we'll be talkin about camp all the time to everybody. I, actually, look forward to Knit Camp more than I look forward to Mexico in February!

For those regular readers you will note that I have not been talking about Mexico this week. My friends and I decided to not go this year. Saving a little money and the Radio station was going to Ixtapa which would have been our 3rd time there.

Instead, I am stayin home and savin for Knit Camp!

Side note, these are the colors I am so drawn to all of the time. Can you understand why?

A Ravelry Primer

I spend alot of time on Ravelry. It is a time sucker. But, the information....the trouble I get into. And because I want you to come along with me, here is how I got to the great idea to use my Malabrigo for the February Lady Sweater.

I had this Malabrigo and was not a hundred percent on what I wanted to knit if from so I went to Ravelry. I hit the Yarn Tab. It just so happens that was one of the top rated yarns so it there it was my first sign. But, if it wasn't, I could have just typed it into the Yarn Search.

I clicked on it. 19000+ projects were in the project tab using this yarn. Which would I choose?

I used the Drill Down box and chose Show All.
Clicked on Types - Cardigans (to start with I just wanted to see the cardigans)
Clicked on Craft - Knitting (I'm a Knitter, remember)
Clicked on Any Color which came back with 66 pages, so I began there and just began paging down. I saw a trend going on. People were knitting alot of the February Lady Sweater.

I've wanted to do this sweater for sometime. Voila, a project was born!

Three Sisters Update

I just love this front detail. Just enough interest while knitting the rest in stockinette.
I'm on the second sleeve. I hope to report tomorrow that it is done and that it matches the other sleeve. I'm not quite sure what needle I did on the first sleeve, usually I write those things down.
I have several ideas for the next two I want to start from Cheryl's book. If you have not seen this book, you just have to check it out. It is my new best friend!

And if you are on Ravelry, there is a Ravelry group - Knitted Jackets
