KaunI KaunU KaunWE?

When last we saw my Kauni, it was going to be a sweater. I made it through the rib.

Then worked a bit on the sweater and just wasn't having any fun, so I put it away.

Then we went to camp and the variations came out. All three of us knew that the once Kauni sweaters were history and something else must be done with it.

Mike had a great scarf that I did not get a picture of, but I knew right away that I was going to make one! So, this little gem is a slow project because it is in the car for emergency knitting, stop lights and construction slow ups. I think I will use almost two of the five skeins I have for it on Mike's advice.

Then the other three are going into the Wool Peddlar's Shawl. Char, Linda and I are all three doing it, but starting at different spots in the skein. All three will be quite unique.

And a great threesome show and tell for next year's camp.

Contest!

This year's contest theme was Recycled Knits. What fun it is to see what everyone comes up with. Though, I can't remember who all created them all, here is just a smattering of the 30 entries.

Cheryl Oberle

Greg's entry. I remember making the paper version of these when I was in grade school. Is that dating me?

Rhoda's 10 year project

Nancy's recycled garden flag

Jane's recycled toaster parts hat

Jaya's recycled sox that have stretched out or lost partners now turned into servicable cozies of all sorts

And Drum Roll......#30 out of 30, my baja bag. Last year the yarn started as a giant squid....this year a bag for me.
And courtesy of Greg, I won some cool books! I couldn't have been happier.

Not A Decent Picture of Meg

In this whole bunch of pictures, I did not get a really good picture of Meg. Next year, I need to do something about it.

Honorable Mention though, Al and Lee Ann. Al is the camp photographer and a KNITTER! He takes pictures of everything and everyone. Out of the goodness of his heart. Long about winter, he sends us each a CD of all of the camp pictures. Almost a thousand of them. What a Guy!

What great friends we are making every year!

Double Knitting by M'Lou

The author attends Camp 2.75. Here is just a sampling of what she brings to show. We were lucky this year to have her do a workshop for us and give us a tam pattern. It is on the "List" for later this year for me. For now, look at these pics, the inside is as cool as the outside.

Are You Ready?

For some Show and Tell! Over the next few days, you get to see just some of the fantastic pieces that I got to see at camp. This is just a smattering. Some pics were blurry, and my apologies in advance to the models....sometimes, you were making some odd faces, but the knitting was just too fabulous to not show...

Shawls form Camp

If after going to camp and seeing all the lovely shawls on and show and tells, you don't want to jump in to make one, well.....I am not sure the experience worked for you.

When I went to my first camp in 96, that was my state of mind....I will never knit a shawl, who would want to do that? Well, it didn't take me long to change my mind at that very first camp.

Contests and Favorite Things

Later next week, I'll show you lots of entries in the Contest for 2.75 Camp, but for today, here is my last place win.

I'm not sad about that! It was the first time I entered, and I am pleased about that I did that. What is really cool is my prizes. It was these two books donated by Greg. They are spectacular and I think a great prize for finishing last!

The first night at camp I spied this new color of Sheepsdown and knew right away it was the perfect yarn/color for the Box Top Jacket from Cheryl's book. I wound a ball and cast on straight away.

With the cool weather we are having it is perfect knitting on it. On Saturday, Cheryl asked me if I would help moderate the group over on Ravelry for Knitted Jackets. I was honored to be asked.

What more can I say, I love this book and it is one of my favorites, right up there with EZ and Meg herselves.

More

Yes, there seems to be some purple going on. This is for our group project and the deal was to use a color you don't normally use. But, purple seems to be my new normal.

We are going to take the vneck pullover and turn it into a cardigan. Steeking will be involved. So far I have not yet sucessfully steeked and I am excited about doing it.

Lilac...yet another purple. But, this one I only bought one. I am going to do a swatch cap and see if I will like this in an Aran. I've been wanting to design my own Aran for sometime.

Once I decide what I want to do and if I like it in lilac then I'll order the rest for a sweater.

This is a new publication that Amy Detjen is involved in. I thought I'd take a look at it and maybe get a subscription. It is out of Wisconsin and I like home grown stuff.

And almost finally....some books.

I think that is all that I bought this past weekend, except for a cute little necklace. I've got plenty to keep me busy for awhile, don't cha think.
